Following on from our discussion with John earlier on today we immediately jumped onto the internet to find out details regarding accommodation over the summer in Sheffield. We struggled to find specific details on the web so I decided to just give them a call and get the information over the phone instead. The guy on the phone took Harrisons email address and sent over a document containing all the details for the accommodation in Sheffield.

In addition, Accommodation Services have an online database (Sheffield Hallam Studentpad) of private sector accommodation (shared or self-contained house, flats, bedsits and apartments etc). Sheffield Hallam University Studentpad is a simple, hassle free, property search. The properties and property owners are all registered with Sheffield Hallam University and as part of that registration have to meet the standards of Sheffield City Council via the Snug scheme, which is Sheffield City Council's student property scheme. This means all properties are up to date with current safety standards and if there are any problems the university can offer help and advice. The database can be searched using a range of different criteria e.g. weekly budget, when the properties are available, contract type etc. For individuals seeking accommodation for shorter term stays I recommend searching for ‘Short Lets’ or ‘Short/Long Lets’ under the ‘Contract Type?’ search option.
An option that might be worth considering, especially if shared housing is not suitable, is Homestay (Host Family / Resident Landlords) accommodation. This type of accommodation is also available on the Sheffield Hallam Studentpad database which advertises rooms in people’s homes, bed and breakfasts, guest houses, host families and people looking for lodgers. Please search 'Resident Landlord/Host Family' under 'Living Arrangements' to view Homestay adverts. This type of accommodation can provide more flexibility and is ideal for short term/longer stays, depending upon the landlords preference.
Private sector accommodation on the Sheffield Hallam Studentpad database can be booked by contacting the landlords directly via the contact details under each individual advert. They can also be contacted to arrange viewings and answer any questions you may have regarding the property.
