OUGD 502 - Branding for Group

As I hadn't really got that much to do research wise, due to most of the research needing to be done before I could actually do much, I was also given the task to brand us as a company. I started by creating a logo that I felt summed us up as a group. Initially I tried creating a completely type based logo:

I then felt like these weren't really getting anywhere or saying much about us as a studio. I then decided to avoid the standard, simple typographic logo and experimented with symbols and numbers:

I then decided to try coming up with a symbol of some sort that I felt expressed how we came together and show how we work as a group. I drew out a letter 'T' and then flipped it, realising that it fit nicely inside the other. I felt like this successfully symbolised the two groups, or in this case the two 'T's', coming together to create one. I also started making the letters look 3-D but from multiple different angles, representing the way in which we all have different views and opinions on design that all work together in harmony. This was the result:

I really liked this logo and so I showed the group. We decided that it successfully put across us as a group and want to use this. However, I do want to tweak a few areas that I feel could be better, such as the two small points that are sticking out.

I then began playing around with the weight of the stroke to see if this had any impact, but quickly realised that altering it took away from the impact.

We wanted to use colour within our presentation and due to the simplicity of the design, this could easily be applied to our logo. We went for a coral colour, something that we all really liked the look of and felt wasn't too aggressive but had impact and demanded attention. Here is the final logo:

We decided that in order to make ourselves that bit more memorable we would create business cards to give out and let the audience take away. This way, if they liked what they saw they have a physical card that contains all of our vital information. Here are some printed cards:
