I decided that for this project, in order for it to be most successful and truthful, I would simply use information taken from my PPP blog. This meant that I have information ranging from the very start of the course until very recently, which allowed me to analyse what I had said and evaluate my success against it.
Logo Design Sheets:

Logo Development:

I really like this concept as a theme to use throughout my project. At first glance, it clearly says 'SAM' whereas it could also be read as 5:AM. This is a reference to my poor time management skills and my dedication to get the work done no matter what; I have often found myself staying up late in order to complete work. I will keep this idea running through my information pack.

These are my favourite designs so far. They are a clear sign of identity and also with them being so wide it emphasises the idea of being awake and focused. I have incorporated the blue in order to make it more personal; I have blue eyes and it is something that I would say if I was to describe myself.

These clocks link to the theme of time management and '5:AM'. I would like to incorporate these in some way, perhaps as some sort of numbering system.

This is another idea that I think works really well, this time aiding me in giving a description of what it is I am talking about. For example, here I would spell my name out like this and accompany it with a 'dictionary description' of who I am. I would like to use this within my design work across all of the media that I use if possible.

I love this lay-out and feel that the circle surrounding the design really aids in drawing attention to it. I have added a slight gradient to the blue in order to add some depth to the colour; as I want to screen print I would need to make this into a half-tone pattern.

I decided that this was the most successful and effective design. It communicates me without being too obvious and in your face.
Business Cards:
I have used the clocks here as numbering for the cards. The clock on the left indicate the number of card, for example this would be card no. 1 out of a possible set. The clock to the right refers to the time that I completed this design which I feel is a clever indicator to my time management again without being too obvious.

Pattern:
I decided that in order to make my design more aesthetically pleasing and work more effectively as a set, I would use a pattern that could be easily applied to my whole project. I opted for dots as they work very well alongside the halftone pattern used inside the eyes.

As I realised that I wouldn't be able to screen print a big range of different business cards due to time restrictions, I changed the time on the left hand clock to say 5 o'clock. This is a very subtle reference to the theme which would only be noticed by people who have seen other designs from this set of work.
Book Development:

Clocks:
The left hand clock refers to the page number.
The right hand clock again refers to the time at which I finished that double page spread.
Page Numbering:
Book Covers:
This is the information that I want to include on the front of my books. Each line correlates to each book:
Samuel Horbury - Individual
Level 4 - Learner
Graphic Design - Designer

Inspiration Book:
I also wanted to make a smaller 'inspiration book' that contains designs that I have used as reference or has helped guide me and influenced my own design practice. I took all of the images from Pinterest which I have been collecting since the start of the year. I like how different they all are, showing how I have developed as an individual and a designer.
Final Outcomes:
Production:
I decided that I wanted to screen print everything apart from my inspiration book and the inside of my three books. This meant that I printed my two posters, three book covers and all of my business cards. I wanted to use a range of different colour stocks to see how the colours reacted when put with my printing colour. I used a mixture of Payne's grey and blue in order to create a colour that is dark enough to have a high contrast against lighter colours whilst also having a slight blue tint.
In the end, I think that this project was very successful as it clearly communicated me and my practice through my design work and the processes that I included. As it was a self-promotion project it already included the branding & identity element which is something that I have an interest in anyway. I also wanted to ensure that I included screen printing and book binding as these are two processes that I have a great interest in and would love to go on to experiment with over summer and into the second year. Editorial & publishing is my greatest interest at the moment and is something I shall definitely continue to work with. Including all of this within my information pack meant that not only did I communicate me through what I had wrote and designed, but also through the way in which I produced the outcomes.
