This is the feedback that I received:
- 'Really personal to you, good idea to look at what interests you to help set you up after uni'
- 'Good broad knowledge of studio and links they have'
- 'Which is your favourite designer that you found?'
- 'You had more time so could have spoke more about your likes/dislikes'
- 'Shows a clear interest and a reflection of what you enjoy'
- 'Plenty of good examples'
- 'Presentation lay-out - Fantastic'
- 'Good broad range of research'
- 'Maybe more research/examples of the studio chosen'
- 'Which pieces of their work do you particularly like and why?'
- 'Good breadth of images'
- 'Liked how you looked into each designer'
- 'Good analysis of design'
- 'Could have included more facts and information'
- 'Clear explanation with visuals of what draws you to the subject'
- 'In-Depth knowledge on subject'
- 'Keen interest in specific subject'
- 'Don't narrow approach too soon'
I have gone through the feedback I received and highlighted the comments that were:
- Specific and Useful - Will help me to make my future work better
- 'Nice to hear' - Not really useful to hear but just good for my ego
- Too Vague - Could have been useful information if they had explained more
Overall I think that the feedback I received was very positive as well as being useful. It has given me some ideas about areas of my summer brief that I could improve as well as areas of the project that I have done well. We were then asked to name three ways in which we can improve our summer brief. These are my three:
- I need to look at more examples of the studios work and talk about which designs I like and which I don't, as well as why. This will help me to figure out what elements of their style and design I agree with and which I don't.
- I need to try and find more facts and figures about the studio and the members of it. This would give me a deeper understanding of them and how the studio functions.
- I need to talk more about why I am so interested in the studio and why I think they are so good. This would help me to understand what it is about their design work I find so appealing and could help to inform my own design practice.
We were then asked why we felt this session was useful:
I think that this session has been very useful for us as it has made us look at feedback and its importance. Being able to give productive and constructive criticism is essential when working within a group, but having the ability to understand and react to feedback is just as important. As we often have short time frames in order to make group critique fast and efficient, we need to ensure that we can quickly, concisely and effectively give feedback that will help the recipient to improve their work.
