5 reasons why I chose this
programme:
Keeping the course intense forces me to stay on my toes as a designer
The course has a very high rate of employment
Top rate University means I will get the best possible education
- Keep myself focused and driven
Staying focused and driven means I will be able to work to my potential
- Close and unique support structure
This enables me to get better quality feedback and thus progress further as a designer
5 things I want to learn:
This is something a lot of designers are able to make into an art form which is something I would like to be able to do
Being able to use computer software effectively will be a key part throughout my graphic design career
This is another style that fascinates me and I would like to explore different ways of producing imagery
Knowing how design works will give me a stronger understanding of how to approach different briefs and tasks
This will give me a wider range of paths when exploring a brief as I will be aware of many different ways to produce artwork
5 skills and strengths:
I have always been a drawer, it is how I got into graphic design originally. I think it is essential to every designer
A greater understanding of this subject will enable me to produce more aesthetically pleasing designs and imagery
This is something I have always enjoyed and find helps define ideas and produce a much more interesting set of work as opposed to using one method
This is key. Evaluating my work helps me determine what is good and what is not, helping me to learn from my mistakes and progress and a designer and as a creative individual
- Finding designers that inspire me
I find that looking at the work of others opens my eyes to many other types of design and different ways of doing things which gives me a much greater understanding of how to design for different occasions
5 weaknesses:
I am not a very organised individual. I think if I can resolve this issue I can produce more work at a greater level
Again, resolving this issue will prevent me from running late on briefs or rushing work, making my work stronger and more visually interesting
Keeping on top of all my written work is something I need to do to keep progressing as an individual
- Staying focused and driven
Often I am distracted by other ideas and by exploring too much. I feel that I need to focus more on each idea and push how far I can take it before moving onto the next one
- Keeping on top of everything
This links with organisation and time management and will allow me to produce greater quality and a greater quantity of work
5 ways to evaluate progress:
Comparing with my peers and my own previous work will help show me where I am currently
This will also help evaluate how I have developed throughout the certain brief or project
These will teach me different styles and methods of working and give me more ideas when starting a project
This helps show me the work I have produced and how it has developed, giving me some idea of how far I have come
These crits are essential to progressing in the right direction within a certain brief or project. Getting feedback from other creative individuals and from your target audience can help make a brief come to life
